Meredith, Founder/Owner

Growing up in a small town gave Meredith the fun opportunity to have lots of animals and pets. At a very young age, Meredith started taking care of and showing horses with her sisters. Her family also had a ranch where she helped take care of pigs, cows, bulls and donkeys. All throughout her life, she has also had dogs, cats, turtles, hamsters and birds as pets as well. “Other kids my age were asking for fun, exciting toys but I just wanted more and more pets to love.”

After attending college at Sam Houston State University, Meredith moved to Houston and adopted her Lexi, her dachshund and trusty sidekick. In all of her adult life, Meredith has worked a corporate career doing marketing and graphic design in the Houston housing industry as well as around the country. Early on she knew she wanted to work with pets which is why she started her pet sitting company in 2009. “Phone apps weren’t really even around much back then. This was never a side gig to me to earn some extra cash. Working two full time jobs was a lot of work but I have a love and a passion for keeping pets happy and comfortable, just like I would want Lexi to be when I’m away.” She started small and over the years it grew and grew and she developed a team of trusted pet sitters to join her. “I am VERY PICKY about who I allow around my pet clients. I know they’re not my pets…but they are a little. I love them and care about them as if they were my own.”

In January of 2019, Meredith’s pet sitting company, previously known as River Oaks Pets & Plants, rolled into it’s 10th year - an entire decade of taking care of the cutest and sweetest pets in all of Houston! “Doing this full time has always been a dream of mine. I finally took the huge leap of faith and did it; I left the corporate life for good. I will probably always do a little freelance marketing here and there because I did love it but I am so happy and blessed to finally be able to take care of even more of Houston’s fur babies. We re-branded ourselves into Paws of Houston LLC and hit the ground running. I am very happy and thankful with the way things are turning out for me and my team. We are taking on so many more dog and cat clients and we even have more time available for charity work for the less fortunate pets around town too!”

When Meredith isn’t loving on your pets or working on scheduling and marketing, she enjoys traveling all over the world. She also enjoys attending Astros games, Broadway shows, extreme adrenaline-pumping activities, yoga, country dancing and exploring new places around the city.

Lexi, CTO

As the Chief Treaty Officer, Lexi has a big paw in what goes on with Paws of Houston. “My mommy started this pet sitting company one month before adopting me so I’ve pretty much been running the show since I was a puppy!” Lexi tells her mom and the Paws of Houston team how these pups are feeling when their parents are away to help them better relate. She advises them on how often to play, cuddle, belly rub time and of course, treaties. Sometimes she goes to overnight stays too and plays with our pet clients; it depends on what those pet parents prefer. When she’s not working hard for Paws of Houston, Lexi enjoys belly rubs, naps, being cute, playing soccer, going on walks, traveling to see her family and begging for treaties.

Morgan, On-boarding trainer and Pet Sitter

Morgan has had pets her entire life. She has a sensitive heart to animals that need help. She is mom to Turbo and Charger, 11 year old half sheltie/half lab dogs that she rescued as puppies. She also has a dog, Buddy, that adopted them on Christmas Eve when he wandered up to their house after being shot in the face. He is doing great now and is loving the spoiled life.

During Hurricane Harvey, Morgan and her husband, Will, went all over Houston in their canoe and rescued dozens of pets (and humans too). While on their way home, they were on the 610 loop and saw a tiny kitten fall into a drain. The roads were shut down and flooded so they spent quite a bit of time rescuing her and now they have her, living her best life with her three pup brothers. Between her and Will, they continue to rescue hundreds of animals all over the Greater Houston area.

Morgan has been pet sitting with Paws of Houston for 10 years and she also helps with marketing set up and distribution.

Ashley, Pet Sitter since 2011

Ashley has an orange cat that wandered up to her family’s home one day and decided not to leave. His name is Fat Cat. In a few weeks, Ashley and her family will have a brand new puppy, an Australian Shepherd that they haven’t decided on a name yet. We can’t wait to meet the new puppy!

Since 2010, Ashley has been taking care of and loving on our pet clients. She also has the “green thumb” of the group so she is great for helping with plant and garden sitting too while clients are away.

Whitney, Pet Sitter since 2019

Whitney grew up with two boxers in her family. One of her favorite memories with them was going to the beach to watch them have fun and play around in the water.

After attending Sam Houston State University with the owner, Meredith, Whitney went on to obtain her Masters degree in Education. She has been in the education field for 13 years and is now an ESL Peer Facilitator.

Joining us in 2019, Whitney is our newest member of the Paws of Houston team. She does overnight stays to keep your pets comfortable and happy in the comfort of their own home.

When Whitney isn’t working, she enjoys attending Astros and Rockets games, going to boot camp, reading, visiting museums and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
